VELVEETA® Italian Sausage Bake

"If you could mix comfort in a casserole and serve it up hot, it would taste like this. Zesty and cheesy through and through, with hearty noodles, zucchini and Italian sausage."

Ingredients :

  • 1 1/2 cups penne pasta, uncooked
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 3 cups halved zucchini slices
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 (8 ounce) can pizza sauce
  • 1/2 pound VELVEETA®, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 1/2 cup KRAFT Grated Parmesan Cheese

Instructions :

Prep : 25M Cook : 6M Ready in : 45M
  • Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Cook pasta as directed on package, omitting salt. Meanwhile, brown sausage in large deep skillet on medium-high heat, stirring occasionally to break up sausage. Drain; return sausage to skillet. Stir in zucchini, peppers and pizza sauce; cook 5 to 6 min. or until vegetables are crisp-tender, stirring occasionally.
  • Drain pasta. Add to sausage mixture with VELVEETA; mix lightly. Spoon into 13x9-inch baking dish sprayed with cooking spray; top with Parmesan.
  • Bake 15 to 20 min. or until heated through.

Notes :

  • Trim 40 calories and 9 grams of fat per serving by preparing with extra-lean ground beef and 2% Milk VELVEETA.
  • Prepare as directed, substituting 1 lb. lean ground beef for the sausage and 1 cup each shredded carrots and zucchini for the 3 cups sliced zucchini. Also, try using a fun pasta shape, such as wagon wheels.
